The Coronet is situated at the North-West corner of Adelaide directly opposite the new Royal Adelaide Hospital. The theme of orientation allows the building to critically respond to, and challenge, issues within the immediate site in a number of ways. Issues includes: street activation, a steep slope, view potentialities and solar orientation. Whilst the podium form is respective of the Newmarket Hotel, the tower also plays homage to the surrounding identity of the area such as the SAHMRI building and the stepping of the North elevation building skyline. The building’s inset facade visually activates and connects the new hospital as well as optimising solar mediation and framing views. |
